What do you think is your greatest weakness?

This question is asked to test your self awareness and responsibility towards accepting your mistakes. This needs to be answered with great honesty and here is how you can answer this:

“I would say my greatest weakness is that I get overwhelmed when I have a lot on my to do list however ,I am working on that by improving my time management skills and prioritising more important tasks”.


What would you define as your greatest strength?

The purpose of asking this question is to allow you to realise where your positive points lie and how it can be beneficial to them. To answer this question keep a professional tone that does not sound like over confidence and boasting like:

“I would say my greatest strength is communication and strategies. I have been faced with multiple situations in my previous projects where I have successfully used this strength to accomplish greater tasks by keeping an open demeanour and quick thinking.”

What makes you interested in this role?

Let us assume the role is that of a project manager. This role requires someone who has proper leadership qualities along with exceptional planning. The way to address this question is:

“I am interested in this role because it would provide me a more wider image of this vacancy and increase my experience along with my planning skills and leadership qualities”.

 

Where do you see yourself in the next five years?

Make sure to answer this question in such a manner that your interests align with the company’s interest as well. This question is to determine how you would use your experience from them later in life. Here is what to say:

Why do you think you are the best candidate for this role?

How would your team describe you in three words?

“Due to the nature of my work, it has always been my priority to consult with my team to make them feel values and heard. My team has always described me as helpful, reliable and calculated. I think of my team as a unit that I have to move along with and am always open to feedback and honest criticism”.

This question is directed at your overall work demeanour and behaviour towards your superiors since a positive and conflict less environment is ideal for efficient working. You can answer this question by:

“Even though work gets quite overwhelming at times, it is required of me to stay calm and collected and manage the situation at hand, since logically panicking would not be a solution. If my task is too big, i would divide it into smaller parts to make it less stressful”.

 

How would you solve a conflict between two team members?

I would attentively listen to their conflict and be completely unbiased to solve it. I would give my solution to both of them according to their interests and tell them to work accordingly”.

 

You get into a conflict with your team member. How do you address this issue?

A team member has called in sick at the last minute. How do you handle it?

If i find myself in such a situation, I would try to ask them privately to stop and if it does not stop, I would have to involve management”.

This question may come to you as unusual but it is actually is not since it is asked to determine your ambition for future. You can tackles this question by saying:

“Of course! I have always been ambitious about having my own company and making it a leading one on top of that. Additionally, this ambition has played quite a role in my professional life”.

 

What are your hobbies?

A very general and simple question that does not need an explanation. Clearly state your hobbies but do not come across as careless in your hobbies. Instead say:

“I have always had a passion for reading and solving crossword puzzles in newspapers or if I do not engage in either, I like to paint.”

 

Do you have any questions for us?

This is where the interview should end and you can put forward any question regarding your pay, working hours or work environment. You can ask:

“What would the salary package be like? Also can you clarify my working hours?”

Wait for their answer do not bombard them with questions and then finally ask:

“How would you say is your work environment ?”
